Influence of CWSI-Based Irrigation Scheduling on Agronomic Traits (Zea mays L.) and Sustainable Water Use in Maize

This study aimed to optimize irrigation scheduling for maize (Zea mays L.) using the crop water stress index (CWSI) improve use efficiency and yield. The was conducted in South farm of School Agricultural Sciences, Karunya Institute Technology Coimbatore during Kharif Rabi seasons 2022. A randomized block design used with seven treatments, including a control T1 no irrigation). Irrigation at all critical stages (T2) other five treatments (T3 T7) based on different CWSI values ranging from 0.2 1.0. Infrared thermometry measure canopy temperatures estimating CWSI. results showed that (T3) had significant positive effect kernel stover yield when compared both seasons, highest 7138.83 Kg ha-1 8014.8 ha-1, 11134 12765 respectively lowest 2267 2325 8156 6491 respectively. intermediate did not show any consistent pattern. resulted (WUE) 14.7 ha-cm-1 17.6 ha-cm-1, usage 31.73% 22.26% 2022, 7.72 found T7 suggest could be promising option achieving higher yields minimal maximum WUE IUE.
